The iron binding motif of phytic acid (IP6) was found to be the 1,2,3-trisphosphate moiety. myo-Ⅰ(1,2,3)P3 (2), a potentially important natural product with a potent anti-oxidant activity via the iron chelation was synthesized from myo-inositol by selective benzylation. An efficient route to Ⅰ(4)P is also described.-
