- Abstract
- Rechargeable battery system is one of the most promising technology to mobile electronics, electric vehicles and storing large scale renewable energy. Therefore, lithium ion batteries are being studied intensively and impressive improvements have been developed in their energy/power densities and life-time. To further improve the performance, relentless research efforts have been made in the development of new electrode materials and optimizing the electrode formulation.
Among different strategies, nanostructuring of active and additive materials has improved the performance of electrodes by improving both ionic and electronic transport as well as to alleviating mechanical stress during the cycling. It is important to i) understand the materials’ properties during the electrochemical reaction and ii) construct hybrid materials with effective structures in the nanometer scale. Therefore, my research interest has focused on how multiple materials in the nanometer scale interact and form well organized structures to enable the development of high-performance energy storage materials.
In this presentation, I will present my recent work on the development of nanostructured battery materials and stabilization approach for metal anodes’ surface by adding various additive materials.
