- Abstract
- The price of lithium ion battery (LIB) materials has increased dramatically because of the growing mobile electronics and electric vehicle markets. Therefore, low price energy storage materials are being studied intensively. Among various candidates, Prussian blue (PB) or Prussian blue analogue (PBA) are being considered as low-cost and stable intercalation materials for next-generation battery systems. PB/PBAs consist of metal ion nodes and cyanide ligands, forming face-centered cubic structure. In this crystal structure, various alkali metals including Na+, K+ can be stably intercalated. The synthesis of PB/PBA is very simple and requires low synthetic energy, which can decrease the price of battery systems. In this presentation, I will present my recent work on the development of PB/PBA materials to apply as intercalation materials for i) Sea-water battery and ii) Sodium ion battery applications.
