- Abstract
- One of the most issues for grain oriented (GO) electrical steels is to reduce the complex manufacturing process. Making inhibitor free GO electrical steels have been suggested for solving the problem, no one could succeed so far. In this paper, experiments were done to investigate why abnormal grain growth does not occur for inhibitor free specimens. Initial microstructures of them were controlled by changing annealing temperatures, and heating rates were varied to control abnormal grain growth condition. It seems that heating rates, amount of AlN, initial grain size, grain boundary character distribution affect abnormal grain growth.
