- Abstract
- Laterally aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were successfully grown using an anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template with lateral pores. After a Co catalyst was electrochemically deposited at the bottom of the AAO template, CNTs were grown by the catalytic pyrolysis of C(2)H(2). The CNTs were laterally aligned and overgrown from pores in the AAO template. The proposed growth technique could potentially be used in the realization of CNT-based electronic devices, in which it is essential for CNTs to have a planar organization.
