- Abstract
- The effect of yttrium on the oxidation resistance of elemental powder metallurgy (EPM) processed TiAl-based alloys was studied. Y-addition improved the oxidation resistance of the experimental alloys exposed at 800 degreesC for 350 h. The improved oxidation resistance was attributed to a fine-grained (Y, Al)O-type oxides and the segregation of Y in the grain boundaries and at the interfaces of Al2O3 in the Y-rich layer.
