- Abstract
- Multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOLs) for presbyopia correction have been developed. When measuring the optical performance of an MIOL, it is important to evaluate the performance for close to real-world, rather than ideal, situations. In this study, an adaptive optical bench system was developed to consider the corneal conditions of the eyes during the measurement of intraocular lenses (IOLs). To test the effects of wavefront shaping using adaptive optics, the performance of the lens was measured under situations in which the aberration is compensated and not compensated. Through this system, spherical aberrations of various amplitudes were generated to reproduce the corneal state of the eye, and based on the generated spherical aberrations, the modulation transfer functions (MTFs) of monofocal, bifocal, and trifocal Zeiss lenses were evaluated.
