Several industrial plants such as a power plant have applied carbon capture and storage (CCS) system to reduce CO2 emission, but few researches are done about separating CO2 and other applicable gases from the byproduct gas of iron and steel making plants (ISMPs). Therefore, we develop an economic separation process for calculating the separation cost of CO2 and other useful gases from the byproduct gas of ISMPs. In chapter 2, we design two process configurations: pressure-swing adsorption (PSA) and monoethanolamine (MEA)-based chemical absorption for the separation of CO2 gas, and develop a simulation model of each process. We consider the power cycle after CO2 separation process because we can get highly-concentrated combustible gas (CO and H2) can be obtained after separation. We perform an economic evaluation of both processes with introducing four cases of power cycle. As a result, PSA prefers for separating CO2 from ISMP byproduct gas, with reducing much cost of separation because of application of power cycle after separation process. In chapter 3, we design modified shortcut modeling of PSA process to get rapid and reasonable result about Vacuum swing adsorption (VSA). This model can simulate PSA and VSA process simply, and can get reasonable result of purity and recovery data of multicomponent separation. We select BFG as target gas because blast furnace emits largest amount of gas in whole ISMP. And we design PSA as CO2 and CO gas separation process, because CO also can be utilized of several processes and it can be indirect CO2 reduction. We perform an operation optimization and economic evaluation of this sequential separation process.-
