- Abstract
- Islet transplantation is a promising treatment of Type I diabetes (T1D), but it has several limitations. The viability and functionality of the transplanted islets are low because of the poor vascularity and hypoxic condition [1-2]. With the convergence of 3D bioprinting, bioink and human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC), tissue engineering offers a promising alternative. In this study, we developed the 3D cell printed pancreatic construct for the alternative treatment of T1D.
